Hospital nurses make swaddling look easy. You get home and suddenly you can't figure out how to fold a blanket around a flailing 7-pound human. The SwaddleMe fixes this with a simple velcro design. Legs go in the pouch, arms get wrapped, velcro closes. Done. No origami required. Your newborn looks like a little bean burrito and the startle reflex is contained. We used these for the first 8 weeks and they were the only way our son would stay asleep for more than 20 minutes. The cotton is soft and stretchy enough to be snug without being restrictive. The leg pouch opens from the bottom for diaper changes without unwrapping the whole thing. You'll want at least three in rotation because between spit-up and diaper leaks, they need washing constantly. They come in cute prints too. Once your baby starts showing signs of rolling (usually around 2-3 months), you need to stop swaddling. So the window is short. But for those first couple months, swaddles are essential.
